The Glory days of the Yiddish stage are brought to life in this saga of a legendary theatrical family, The Bursteins.Arriving in New York in 1924, Pesach'ke Burstein, the dancing-singing comedian, quickly became a leading figure in the Golden Era of Yiddish Theater. On stage, he met and fell in Love with the rising star, Lillian Lux who would become his wife. The couple toured throughout the world and eventually included their twins, Mike and Susan in the act. The film chronicles not only career ofthe Family as a unit, but that of Mike Burstyn's (note the change in spelling of the last name) as he became a major recording artist in Israel as well as a leading man in many Israeli films and in legitimate theatre in the United States and Holland.Incorporating concert and rare archival footage, as well as interviews with Yiddish stage veterans--including Fyvush Finkel; this wonderful film is filled with music and humor but does not shy away form the dificulties and personal conflicts of touring and performing throughtout the world. In English, Yiddish and Hebrew and subtitles where aprapos. Avaialbel on Video and DVD One Hour and 18 Minutes.
